As Jimmy Kimmel gears up to host the Academy Awards for the fourth occasion, he is suggesting that his long-standing talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, might be nearing its conclusion.
In a recent discussion with the Los Angeles Times, the 56-year-old late-night host revealed that he is seriously contemplating stepping back once his current contract comes to an end.
“I believe this is my final contract,” Kimmel stated. “I dislike even bringing it up because everyone is laughing at me now—every time I think that, it turns out not to be true.”
Kimmel Live! is marking its 21st anniversary, leading the host to reflect on his career and what lies ahead.
He still has just over two years remaining on his agreement but feels that may be sufficient. “That seems quite good,” he remarked. “That appears to be enough.”
Looking forward, Kimmel is unsure about what the future holds. He mentioned interests beyond television, such as cooking, drawing, and sculpture, but nothing is confirmed.
His remarks indicate he is prepared for a transition, although fans are likely to miss his presence in late-night television.
Kimmel’s candidness regarding the potential end of the show adds a new dimension to his public image, demonstrating his willingness to explore new creative paths.
Whether he will return to late-night television or chase other interests remains uncertain. However, for the time being, the future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! appears to be approaching a significant turning point.
